Bermuda

This was the first time Murder and Chanelle had ever seen the beautiful beaches of Bermuda. The sky was clear and the weather was warm with a warm breeze. They were staying in a luxurious suite at a five star hotel. Before checking in, they spent the day shopping for clothes and toiletries.

Murder surprised Chanelle when he handed her a pair of diamond and pearl chandelier earrings.

Chanelle placed her hand over her mouth almost unable to speak. “Baby, thank you, thank you so much! They are—”

Murder didn’t allow her to thank him any more. He placed his fingers on her lips so she couldn’t speak, then kissed her softly on the lips. “Shhh!” he whispered. He grabbed her by the hand and they walked to the private beach.

The ocean reflected the moonlight as the waves swooshed against the shore. Murder and Chanelle walked barefoot in the water just enough for the water to wash against their ankles.

Murder laid Chanelle down on the sand and made love to her in the moonlight. The only sounds were the waves and Caribbean music playing in the distance at the hotel bar on the beach.

After their lovemaking session, Murder carried Chanelle in his arms and placed her in the ocean to clean off, then they went back to the hotel.

Chanelle loved him more than life itself. She had a lot on her mind and wanted to talk to Murder before they traveled back home. She was having violent dreams dealing with her boyfriend’s lifestyle that scared and worried her.

They walked back to the hotel and took a nice, hot shower. Murder relaxed, then fell asleep, so Chanelle listened to Alicia Keys sing “Falling”. She crawled next to her man on the bed and cuddled with him as he slept. She didn’t care about basketball or the money. There was no question the girl was in love!

She knew what was in Murder’s safe at her house. She also knew how he made his money. She learned a lot in the streets of Brooklyn: never ask too many questions, and never give too many answers—especially to white people, and the police. Keep quiet and keep it moving was her motto.

She wanted to marry Mark and have a beautiful wedding, but she realized her dreams could be short lived because of his lifestyle. In the morning, after breakfast, she would let Mark know she was pregnant with his baby. She kissed Murder on the lips and let him rest.

Unable to sleep, Chanelle lay next to him, rubbing her belly in short circular motions. She prayed he would be happy when she told him about their baby. Even with the good news, all she could think about was how to tell Mark how she felt about him hustling.

The following morning, Murder and Chanelle were doing about fifty-mph on a rented Wave Runner Jet Ski.
